Introduction

And hello everybody. Welcome back to this episode of The Corus Effect. I'm Scott, and this is my TL DL summary. From my wonderful conversation with Rich Bishop, founder of Mid Game Consulting, TLDL, short for too long, didn't listen. Hey, I get it. Life gets in the way. This is my quick five-ish minute summary of my chat with him if you like it.

Please feel free to go back and listen to full episode. It was a wonderful episode with Rich and it really centered around how true growth happens in uncomfortable spaces and that there is a power in terms of integrating professional success with family presence, and certainly in what we talk about here in Corvus platform, that we wanna multiply our leadership impact without sacrificing.

Family and the things that matter, rich is the epitome in terms of how that comes into play.

The Power of Mid-Game Adjustments

So let's delve deeper into some of the key areas that we talked about, including the power of mid game adjustments. And Rich beautifully explained that. Successful companies, they rarely start out perfect. They evolve through decisions and pivots over time, and that different businesses need different strategies at different times to continue to be successful and grow.

And that's not just in business, but that's also in life That. Life is not consistent in terms of your stage of life, your age of life, the environment around you in life, and that you also need to be able to. Pivot as you go in order to go after your definition of success and your definition of legacy.

And certainly in the path that I have personally traveled to the formation of Corvus, I can wholeheartedly say that is spot on. I agree with that a hundred percent and that that is the message that we would convey to you, which is. Don't be afraid to pivot. Don't be afraid to change. Don't be afraid to get uncomfortable and grow by doing something which is a bit different.

That is where the power towards your legacy lies.

Collaborative Leadership Transformation

Another thing that we talked about in our chat was collaborative leadership transformation, and Richard's approach really emphasizes on bringing everyone into the transformative process. He put it. Change does not go well when management comes from on high and says, this is where we're going, whether you like it or not.

Look, all of us have been in that situation where we have heard a thou shout from wherever that we have had to obey. And for me personally, it wasn't necessarily the. Whatever we were doing right. It was the, I didn't feel like I had a. Voice of freedom in it that I was, for lack of a better word, a slave to whatever that decision was.

Could it have been the right decision? Yes. Could the result have been great? Yes. But there's something in terms of being a part of something and owning it and feeling that you were not doing it simply because. Somebody told you to and that was it. That's really parallels our CORVUS framework in terms of we're pursuing freedom of self-leadership through self-awareness, self-belief, and self-accountability, that these are the hallmarks in order to say.

We are free regardless of whatever the environment is in order to make the own choices that benefit us in the best possible manner.

Family as a Priority Mission

And finally, rich really talked about family as a priority mission For him, his perspective on fatherhood was great. The most important job I will ever have. Is as a dad.

And I agree with that. That's, I mean, uh, I love all the different roles that I play in my life, but the one that brings me a tremendous amount of joy is being a dad. And that rich with his entrepreneurial business, but also a father of two teenage daughters, he intentionally structures his work to be present for his children's activities and to be able to have the time in order to ask them what's up, how they doing?

Where can I be involved? Being able to understand when they're going through adverse situations and they just may need somebody to listen because they just need to get it off their chest. That is something which you can't put a price on. You can't put a price on the fact that you have flexibility and freedom to be that true voice that somebody else seeks out in times of need.

And that's something that certainly we hear within Corvus. Definitely aspire to in terms of how we want to be remembered that we were the personification of being able to be there when others needed us, and that's inspiring to others because they wanna pay it forward to the next generation so that they can be uplifted.
